Talk to BauleyCivic. Ask him if he'd do it all over.

That is what the honda dealership told me i had today. i didn't know exactly what the f*** they were talking about either. my car is a 87 civic si (hb). it has a 1.5L with pgm-fi. my timing belt broke and the cheapest i can get the valves fixed and head machined is like $300 so i figured i might as well do a mini me swap but i can't figure out which motor i have

your engine is an EW3, thats the engine code (as in D16A6, B16A2, etc..). no, a mini-me would be hard as hell on your engine, basically because it's pre-88. in 88 they went to all d-series engines, and you can find an ecu to work, so you could do it. they are easiest to do on 92+ cars.

your best bet will be to find an engine from a junkyard, and hope it works. you should be able to find one for around $150 tops
good luck

yeah, i just don't play with mr wankel
anyways, the easiest peppy swap would be a D16A1 out of an 88-89 integra (1.6L DOHC non-vtec, similar to the JDM DOHC ZC engine). all wheel disc brakes will also swap over from that car. a friend of mine bought an 85 crx for $75, bought an 89 teg for $50, swapped over all wiring from headlight to taillight, all brakes/suspension, seats, and the engine/tranny/ecu. everything bolts right in. he had less than $200 in one of the funnest little hellraisers i've ever ridden in

look for a really good deal on a wrecked 86-89 integra. the 88-89 is better because the engine has a little higher compression.
good luck
