Default Miliage on Cluster..HeLP!

Well as you can see in my sig..I've been looking for buyers for my car..The ONLY problem is...the car's actual miliage is 80K...and the cluster (GS-R) says 150+K...Is there any way that I can have someone turn it back so that its legitiment? I heard that someone can actually match up the miliage on the clutser to the miliage on the engine...Is that possible?

The dealer should be able to do it, but its probably too late for that.

When I changed from a DX to an EX/Si cluster on my civic, they swaped the speedo part of the clusters so I would retain the actual chassis mileage on my car...

The speedo is just screwed into the back of the cluster.

lol too bad that doesnt work.. just take the gsr cluster outta the car and roll it back yourself.. its really not to hard to get it. you can figure it out.. sounds like u got a lotta miles to go.. or just go back to the stock cluster..

The thing is the cluster is a GSR in a Civic...The actual car has 80XXXk miles..while the cluster has 150xxxK miles....Will the mechanic say anything for doing that? I cant put on my Dx cluster because THAT would be really illegal considering it only has 40K miles.

how bout putting the original cluster back in, and sell the GSR cluster seperately? You can always tell the prospective buyers was the actual mileage is...

Easy---buy a brand new cluster w/ zero miles from the dealer. Put it in and dont connect the plugs on the back of the cluster.

How'd you do it? Anyways, if you can kindly tell me how; I'm not trying to do fraud or anything. I figured since I'm building a new motor, I want to send the cluster back to zero miles. Please...do tell.

Look, like someone said, it's easier to just buy a new cluster with zero mileage. after that when you sell the car you explain you put in a fresh cluster at the time of the swap so the mileage would match the engine. On the bill of sale there is a box you can check that says "ODOMETER DOES NOT SHOW ACTUAL MILEAGE ON VEHICLE" or some ****. Mark that box.

I't for those really old cars that flip the mileage on the OD and now you have a 1973 car reading 5,000 miles. But it will work in this case too

Good luck..

I work at a dealership,in the parts dept, and most dealers wont sell a cluster without proof of mileage. In other words you have to show the person ordering it that your old cluster has X number of miles. Without that most dealers will tell you to get fucked. But I guess it also depends if the person behind the counter you are buying the cluster from gives a damn.

Thats the same problem i had. I bought my car from a friend( '91 dx sedan) and he put a '91 EX cluster in. The car only had 113,xxx but the ex cluster read 148,xxx. It really sucks. The funny thing is when I went to the DMV to swap titles, he had just bought the car 3 weeks earlier, the title read 113,xxx and 3 weeks later i came in and put down 148,xxx so that if i decided to sell it that the mileage would reflect the cluster miles. She didnt even notice that my friend had put on 35,000 miles in 3 weeks! Im more comfortable knowing it has 30,000 something less than what the cluster says!
