Now I have replaced the rear brake pads too. Maybe the parking brake adjustment in now a good idea. Parking brake works, but now I have to pull the parking brake lever quite much untill the rear wheels are locking up.

I did the parking brake adjustment and now itīs working fine. Unfortunately my Civic failed the inspection yesterday. Thanks for the little trick which was done by the previous owner. He has removed the abs light bulb because the abs system donīt work.

^^ OK, now it gets really fun. ABS problems are fixable ... depending on what they are of course. Put a bulb in there and determine the problem code. If the problem is with the pump unit, you may find that buying another complete unit is the easiest approach. Since you're in Finland, units on eBay.de are affordable (look for Civic and del Sol ones).

I had a Code 1 that I managed to fix with this solution: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-pics-2830570/

.... until it went bad again. I temporarily disabled my ABS since I got tired of mucking around with it. (By a small miracle, I found a low-priced functioning replacement unit in a junkyard but I haven't installed it yet.)

... wait a second. A US-spec car with ABS and rear drum brakes? This doesn't sound right at all. All US-spec EJ1s had rear discs if they had ABS. Does it even have the ABS pump in the engine bay? ABS computer on the right side of the trunk? I don't see any ABS wiring lines in your pic of the undercarriage, but it's not a good close-up pic where I can see detail.

Or perhaps my english is just terrible? My biggest worry is how expensive it will be to get the abs system work again. I like my Civic very much but I donīt want put too much money for the abs system repair.

Today I put a bulb for the abs system light. The abs light came on when I turned the ignition switch on and it came off after I started the engine. After some driving the abs light came on. So I restarted the engine and it all happened again. The only problem code was 48. If Iīm right that code is for the rear left speed sensor?

I went back and read again. I just completely misunderstood you. That’s a problem becoming more prevalent with me. Maybe I’m not getting early onset Alzheimer’s or something. That would be horrible.

Today I asked the price for the abs speed sensor and now I know that the dealershipīs price is too expensive for me. So I have to get the speed sensor from somewhere else. I was also thinking could there be a problem with the pump unit too? The only problem code was 48 but who knows when was the last time when the pump unit have been running. Is there a chance to test the pump unit somehow or are there always the problem code 1 when the pump unit isnīt working? Because itīs not a good situation if I get the speed sensor and next problem is the pump unit.

You can test-run the pump unit but don't mess with that until you've resolved the code 48 issue. Is there a break in the wire? Does the sensor need cleaning or something? (I don't know how they work, so I don't know if this is an option.) Is the rear ring or whatever the sensor reads in the rear in good condition and positioned correctly? It's possible that the previous owner broke the speed sensor wire.

Can there be any harm if I test the pump unit before the 48 code issue is solved? I would like to be sure that the pump unit work.

If the pump didn't work, you would get multiple separate codes. Don't worry about that yet. If you really want, you can jumper it to test. Check that DIY I linked to earlier.

Ok, Iīm sure you know lot more about Hondas than I do and I`ll trust to your word man and I want also thank you! Maybe I just get the abs speed sensor. Actually the friend of mine is helping me to get that abs sensor. By the way, he is the same friend who helped me with the quarter glass episode before.

Before you even spent a Euro-cent on the speed sensor, check to see if it's a broken wire or something easily repaired with a soldering gun.

x2

Rodents and other animals can chew on the wires and cause problems.

I tested both of the rear speed sensors with the multimeter today. The left sensor got about 200-300ohms and the right sensor got nothing. I donīt know how accurate the multimeter was but obviously there is problem with the right sensor too. I was wondering why the only problem code is 48 if the right sensor donīt work too? I did the test drive with unplugged right sensor because I wanted to see are there going to be an another code but the only problen code was still 48. This is going to be a real nightmare for me.

Can there also be the faulty abs control unit because the only code is 48?

What test did you do to check the wire? Your explanation is not clear.

I used the multimeter to check for resistance between the sensor terminals. According to he multimeter there is problem with the right side sensor too but the only problem code thatīs exist is 48. Itīs doesn`t matter is the right side sensor connected or not. So maybe the ABS control unit is bad too? I know that my english might be terrible but Iīm really do my best.

You are checking for continuity in the wire? I need you to check for a break in the wire by checking for continuity from the ABS unit to the wheel sensor. That's the GRY and LT BLU wires below.
