might purchase totalled 2001 gsr...
hey everyone.
i have the possibility to purchase a 2001 gsr with just under 10 000 miles for 8000$ US. I have seen the car. Susp is still excellent shape. Fully loaded. Do you guys think its a good deal? I have the intention to use engine + tranny + susp+brakes. Would be parting out the rest?
What do you think?
Thanks

I woud pay <$7000 for it. $8k is a little extreme, you'd probably loose a little money depending on the good parts.
Engine and drivetrain $4000
Suspension w/ wheels $1200
Interior $1000 (dash, cluster, carpet, everything)
I would probably pay about $6000 for it myself, I would be guaranteed to make money then

Low mileage 2001 GS-R.. Hmm. Let's add up the typical junkyard prices:
$2500 for complete motor swap.
$200 rear brakes + trailing arms
$500 for various interior pieces.
Doesn't add up to $8k to me. Nowhere close.

Motor swap: $3,300.00-$3,800.00
Full 4 corners of brakes/suspension: $500.00 That's with both sways and all LCAs, struts, etc.
Seats: $400.00
Wheels: $400.00
I can't think of anything else i'd get from it because the dash swap is not my style (and it doesn't fit for **** without a LOT of patience) and my 1992 CX has anything GS-R on it as far as seats, sus, brakes, etc. goes.
Still nowhere near $8,000.00 - that's an ***-raping!
BTW to make you all sick, I paid $4,000.00 for a local totalled ITR inclusing the swap, 5-lug, etc. - the WHOLE car! I've even got the damn title and I knew the owner so it's 100% legit.

i'd say try finding a totalled itr... i've heard you can find these for $5000, plus if the susp. is good you have yourself a five-lug conversion... just like tom said above (D'oh!) good luck.
