Mid RPM Bogging, Backfiring, Loss of Power Problem Solved!
So my EJ2 with a b20z/gsr tranny swap was bogging down through all the rpms most noticeably in the mid range. The car had dramatic loss of power and was much much louder than usual with a lot of crackling and occasional backfiring. I had just taken off my intake manifold for maintenance, so everything on there was game. Idle was also very inconsistent with bad surging problems
By the end of the ordeal I had replaced the Mass Air Pressure sensor 2x, Idle Air Control Valve 6x, Intake Air Temp Sensor 2x, Throttle Positioning Sensor 1x, and my EGR and FITV are deleted due to my Blox Intake manifold. I checked for vacuum leaks a million times. I replaced my distributor cap, rotor, and coil with a performance kit, and also upgraded to NGK spark plug wires. I even replaced my fuel filter to make sure fuel was all good.
All my friends kept telling me it seemed like a sensor issue so I thought all the sensors I was cycling through were bad. (most of the IACVs were, due to being second hand and such). This lasted for about a month with no progress so I was starting to loose hope.
Then I remembered that I had replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator on my fuel rail just after I reinstalled the intake manifold. The new one I had used was off a friends old prelude b-series. I was at the pull-yard so I figured I would pull another one and give it a try.... it worked! The car now rips just as hard as before and has all new sensors and ignition system
So I hope this helped anyone who may have been going through the same issues. My problem was my FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. Even if you do not have the same cause as I, maybe I reminded you of something else to check! Comment with any questions!

Hahaha no, I just have a lot of friends with a lot of extra parts. I paid 10$ through the whole process and that was when I pulled the FPR and IACV from the junkyard.

You know, I was just making this point yesterday in another post about swapping parts that are known to be good from other friends' cars and how this can be the cheapest fastest option sometimes.
