Re: Max RIM SIZE?
14's aren't "way too small" at all. A good set of 15's would look really good though. Get a good set of coilovers and slam it before worrying about another set of wheels.

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
has anyone had problems with rubbing on 16s? I think that would fill up the wheel well nice and not need a large drop. I need to keep my ground clearance the roads are not so good some places here.
Are 16's easy to buy tires for? Are 15's more common?

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
Tires for 15's are generally cheaper then tires for 16's. 15's will also give you a little more cushion on those not so good roads you describe. 16's could look ok if you have you heart set on 16's.

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
15's are less expensive and have less expensive tires and have more performance oriented benefits than 16's, which is why most of us are recommended them.
EDIT: what the **** is up with all my typos today? errrrrr

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
it only looks too small because the size of your wheel gap is almost the size as your rims...lower the car and itll look good...17s...so heavy...slower braking...slower acceleration...just too big but more power to you if you like it...

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
i've been reading some of the post and i guess its all depends on what you want to do. i have a 97 hatch and plan on putting on 18" AXIS REVERB's on it. not sure on the offset yet . i want a fat lip in front n back but not sure what will work and clearance issues. heres a pic of the wheels

This car ^^^ looks good!
and I would say 16's at the most. I mean if you want some big nasty rims you could always hit up a caprice and go DONK swerving!

Re: Max RIM SIZE?
Resurrecting this 2024 to show more people my rim spec on my 1997 Honda Civic Hatch.
I've heard different options about my build, but I honestly don't care. Building it for my vision only & not anyone else's. The rims I have now are alloy JDM ATS racing rims from the early 2000s. They are pretty rare now so I decided to keep them in the car. These happen to be the perfect rims for a big brake kit & future boost. The civic build is for street / track purposes. If you want to see another unique time attack civic hatch build on 17s I suggest you look into the Gears And Gasoline eK time attack build in youtube. He also has 17s on but his hatch is boosted & running big brake kit. Which is I will end up eventually.
Tire size: 205/40r17
How she currently sits
Specs: Max Speedingrod coilovers with spring stiffness nearly maxed out. Lowered about 3-4 inches with —3.5 camber all around to fit the rims perfectly. Did have to get the front fenders professionally rolled & remove the front fender lining.
