If you haven't changed anything inside the motor, then don't rev it any higher than your stock rev limiter.

I would not raise the rev limiter unless you have upgraded at least the valve train (valves, valve springs, etc).

okay, so because im not a mechanic or experience at all im going to ask some stuff. you guys say build the head, the valvetrain... if i didnt do this, what could i expect to happen to my motor and why. and what would upgading everything do for me? and whats some simple mods i can do to keep the cost down?
thanks alot guys

keep the head stock. With a turbo set up at that kind of boost you arent going to see a lot of gains with better spings and what not.

It should be safe to do that. although it does depend on wich ECU you are going to use. If your RPM's reach the 9k area it would be best to put your rev-limiter on and then upgrade the ecu.

but what im concerned about is breaking something. how is the breathing going to change if i were to rev it to mayube 8000rpm? would it start getting horribly inefficient or break something? what do i have to worry about?

the stock dmotor will flow pretty well still at real high rpms right? what do you mean for the ecu? a rev limiter, a different fuel map?

unless you replace the cam (timing/lift/overlap) raising the redline won't do much.

i higher rev limit will at the least keep you in gear longer, letting you make more use out of the lower gears i thought.

it's more important to keep power to the wheels, torque falls very quickly when you run out of cam. look around at the millions of dyno charts that everyone post.

that motor produces max hp at 6600 0r 6800 rpms i dont remember which one, after that it drops drastically. so unless you get a different cam, springs, etc. theres no reason to rev it any higher than the 7200 rpm redline.
