Map sensor code 5 Idles fine, then revs up and dies.
This is the first time I have ever seen this....
Guy brings in his car, he had a h22 swap in it, then took it out and put a sohc back in it, (dont ask about mounts). He was throwing a code 3. He complained about the idle being weird then dies.
He did not have a map sensor or a plug for it. So I ran the three wires directly to the ecu, cut off the three wires that ran off of it and directly ran the wires to the map sensor plug. I plugged it in, ran the vaccum line and fired it up.
The car idled fine around 1000rpm for about a minute, then it reved to 2000rpm then dies rite after. I then go and see what the check engine light shows, now its code 5.
Then, sometimes it will idle fine for a few mintues, during which I plug a vacum source to the map sensor, idle starts going up and down, when i disconnect, idle goes fine.
I double checked the wires I ran, swapped map sensors.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem?

I kinda have something similiar.
'91 teg throwing code 3 and it runs but won't rev over 2000rpm. I've tried the map sensor and the ecu in another car and they're ok. I have continuity on all 3 wires and no shorts between them. I've run through the troubleshooting in the Helms and it says to swap the ecu.
edit: with engine off, key on, I get a voltage drop of 2.14V between the wht and yel/rd wire and 2.8V with the engine running.
