Manual Steering Rack Rebuild
Besides tie rods, greasing the rack, a outer bushing and boots, what would go into a manual steering rack rebuild?
This image seems to me like the only things to be replaced are the rack end bushings, dust seal, and if necessary the pinion gear.
This image from a manual steering rack seal kit includes lots of o rings i do not see in the aforementioned diagram
Thank you for all your help

Re: Manual Steering Rack Rebuild
Have you tried adjusting the guide screw already? That can take a lot of slack out of the steering wheel. It can be done with the rack in place on the car.
Parts kits often include some parts that don't apply to your model, so they only have to make up and stock one kit for several models.

Might I suggest buying a new (not reman) rack? They can be had for a reasonable price from parts geek or sometimes rock auto. To me, it is more than worth avoiding the headaches of doing a rebuild.

Yes, I realize this is not practical in any sense. This civic is my project car, not my daily. Just a car I am rebuilding from the ground up. So I enjoy rebuilding as much as I can vs buying a reman unit, just to understand the system better. Thank you for your input though! Also the seal kit I believe is for a power steering pump or rack, it is mislabeled on rockauto I believe.
