main relay does not click! not bad relay
hello honda tech. i am currently replacing the engine in my 98 honda civic. i have done this once before but i am no pro. i have the engine in, i am trying to start it but no luck the main relay does not click when i turn the key on so the fuel pump does not turn on. i have replaced my relay with a new one same result. i have checked the fuses but i can not tell about the ones under the hood. i am desperate i need to get my car running again, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is the G101 ground bolted to the thermostat housing?
Is 15A hood fuse 44 or or 15A dash fuse 13 blown?

i have something grounded on the thermostat but i'm not sure it's correct. where does the G101 ground come from. or what nshould i have grounded there. im sorry for my illiteracy in this. putting the engine in was a piece of cake but troubleshooting problems ehh not so much.

i dont have a fuse 44 under the hood but i checked the two 15A fuses and they were both ok. fuse 13 under the hood was also ok. i am having trouble uploadijng pictures but i have a ground coming from the main harness not to the exact place it shows in your image but above it. is that what is suppose to be grounded?

Fuse 44 is the blue 15A fuse in the top left corner. Does it and 15A dash fuse 13 have battery voltage on both top test tabs? By the way, the alternator white wire is disconnected.
Can you also post a picture of the G101 ground?
Does the engine crank with the key in ON(III)?

Re: main relay does not click! not bad relay
that wire that is grounded on the thermostat is coming from the harness. i have the image backwards but the first picture is where the wire that is grounded in image2 comes from

Re: main relay does not click! not bad relay
That doesn't look like the G101 ground wire (see diagram in post #4). Does it have a white wire? If so, that wire comes from the alternator and connects to the hood fuse box (missing alternator wire I mentioned earlier).

Re: main relay does not click! not bad relay
G101 is circled at the top of diagram in Post #4. It appears that you have the alternator wire attached to the thermostat housing. Look for the real G101 ground under the hood.

Re: main relay does not click! not bad relay
the white wire was the one i had grounded on the thermostat. its now back in the fuse box. where does G101 come from. sry man the diagram isnt very clear to me. do you have a picture of G101?

Re: main relay does not click! not bad relay
G101 branches from the largest wrapped engine wire harness that comes from below the battery.
I circled what I believe to be the G101 wire branch in your picture below.

ahh i got it man. it was connected to the starter, dont remember why i did that but its fixed. i turn the car on fuel pump primed, but the fuel pressure regulator needs a gasket. i have the bolts as tight as they will go but it still squirts gas. ill get a gasket and move on to the next thing i have to fix
thanks so much for the help Ron this thing is kicking my ***. ill keep you posted as im sure ill have something else to fix
