both are reliable and great motors if they are built right with the right parts. it just what you want to do. people say the LS crank holds up better from all the B series i think but dont take me on that. if you want a great LS vtec setup just get your LS crank machined into the gsr block , but both are great setups if done right

i see its because i like the bottom end you get from lsvtec but people say the gsr will kill the lsvtec they say things like gsr gets 160 from i/h/e and lsvtec only got 143 whp with stock bottom end and b16 head and then you see the videos where lsvtec owns and where gsr owns but thoses are just videos you know im not to sure if you know where im getting at but yea haha

it all depends on the driver, you can have 2 badass motors with 1 surpassing another one by a little but the better having a dumb driver will lose to the one compared with a good driver with the weaker motor

you dont always have to use a b16 head on the ls/vtec, you do know the gsr head does give you a little bit higher compression. b20vtec.com has a lot of info on the hybrid builds. it just really depends on what you want. there was this guy from where i am from. he built a lsvtec block for turbo. head was a b16 i believe was completely stock and he ran a 11.2 on slicks.

built bottom end/ stock head
