LS VTEC or B16?
I have come to a point where I want a motor swap. My old D16Z6 is not enough. I wanted to know which one you guys preferred, LS VTEC or B16? What are the specs (hp, torque, ect) on both?
Thanks

b20vtec.
and response to that site linked above
any idiot with a computer can make a webpage. dont take everything you read seriously.
just because honda didnt do it dosent mean it cant be a good engine. im sure honda never intended a b16 or ANY b series motor to go into a civic (apart from the Si)

how's it going? i know people are trying to persuade not to do a lsvtec, but i will encourage you to get one. the key is to find someone that knows how to build one correctly and then break it in correctly. i have one in me 97 civic and it has 15,000 miles on the motor with out any problems with it. right now i am putting down 175hp and 130ftlb of torque. that is without doing anything to the head. if you want more info email me.

Multiple B16's have been in Civic's, just not in the States.
Examples
CRX Si-VTEC
Civic SiR-II

Do this
get the b16 swap first for the majority of vtec parts
the get used to the power increase over the sohc...then spend time building an ls block, and finally do the conversion

Re: Do this (slowasshatch)
Jeff at importbuilders.com is the man when it comes to LSvtec or B20's he can make a reliable and hard charger and he can tune it and send it to your house and you just plugg and play

Re: LS VTEC or B16? (92turbocivicsi)
why not just fix the rod stroke by increasing the rod length. WHOA! what an idea!!! the guy that wrote that article in the link above was a complete idiot. Guess he was tired of getting spanked by LSVTEC power! If you want more low-end torque go for the B20Z or B20B blocks. i think the point in doing these swaps is because you can get a block with more displacement rather than having another block machined for more displacement. reliability is an issue.
get the B16 for now, buy an LS block somewhere down the road and build on it until you are ready.
