Lowering Questions from a Newbie
Will i get a smoother ride quality, better handling out of Coilovers, or lowering springs. Also where can i find a semi-decent set at a fairly cheap cost cause i do not have much money to spend. And also why is it i am restircited so much on this forum?

whats your spending limit on a coilover/shock or spring/shock setup? and you're temporary limited on H-T because you're a n00b. just your few days and you will get some more access.

Because n00bs are hated in these parts.
anyway, you said coilovers. Since you asked for cheap cost options I'm going to guess you're talking about sleeves like skunk2's or ground controls.
IMO you'll get better ride quality out of springs. Mainly because you have more coils that can compress. sleeves use smallersprings with higher spring rates. This will give you a bouncier ride. Now you can blow $900 or so and get a set of nice Tein SS coilovers and have a damn nice ride with much better handling than stock. You'll have the adjustability factor in both ride height and stiffness. Lowering springs won't get you that.
Awww hell, it's late for me. 2:30 AM over here in portugal. I'll let the late night guys explain it to you.
My $.02, get a real set of coilovers. Save your money for 'em.

Re: Lowering Questions from a Newbie (IslandSi)
I have heard tein is the way to go. If i could come up with the 900 i would definitely go with them, but what is a cheaper route fo rsome temporary lowering untill i could afford the teins? Not sure what my spending limit would be, usually i come up with a cost, then try for it. Noobie haters...

go with coilovers. if you go with springs then you put them on and you think ur car still sits to high then your screwed but if you go with coilovers if you think it sits to high after you put them on you can jack up your car and turn them down more.

How far away from Wooster are you? If you want to experience a really nice suspension setup for under $1000, we should make arrangements for you to come and get a ride in my hatchy. I'll do the run down real quick:
KYB AGX Shocks (Set to 1 front 4 rear) $340
Tein S-Tech Springs $160
D2 rear LCA's with Polyurethane Bushings $140
Stock front swaybar (free)
Suspension Techniques 19mm rear swaybar $130
Even without upper strut tower braces (which would help me at this point...but not at stock levels nearly as much), my car handles beautifully, with my setup intentionally negating all the stock understeer and even promoting a little bit of tail-out when you get on it at the apex. I'm on gay stock tires and rims, too, and my car is a "heavy" Si, so you can imagine what a little bit of weight reduction and nice sticky meats would do.

sounds like all you want is to be lower, just buy springs for now. Your car will not handle better overall than stock but you will be lower. After you save up and blow your shocks. You can get tein SS ( only if you are running on the street) or by then you will read up about handling and see that Tein's are not your only choice. And if you are really smart you will get Koni yellows and custom rate springs because for the price there the best price/handling IMO. (real handling, not just a slammed look)

Re: Lowering Questions from a Newbie (Blacklightning)
that is right, for now i am more worried about getting rid of wheelwell gap, but when i pay off some billz and such, i am going to want to set it up for handling, and some engine mods.... I only paid 500.00 for the car, that is why i am not tryin to dump too much into it right now. It is my everyday beater.

how much do you want to be dropped?
I'd suggest H&R sport springs on KYB AGX's or Koni yellows depending on how much cash you got.
Forget coilovers.

I don't think he is getting shocks. He is doing the mistake that so many of us have done.
We all get excited about hour new car and the first thing we do is try and make it look good. Therefore by dropping it, but of course we want it done NOW! So, we buy springs, love the look, but soon realize the ride is worse, cornering is more unpredictable, and then we carve better handling.
No matter what we tell this guy he is still going to make the same mistake as all of us.

Why waste your money if the cars a beater/******* get a nicer car to do **** to. Unless your going to repair it and can do it yourself cost effectively.
