friends car throws code 41 after thermal exhaust install.
hey guys my friend just installed a thermal exhaust on his obd2 gsr and now his car throws the code 41...o2 sensor heater core or something like that. Why does it throw this code all of a sudden after installing the exhaust? I plugged up my obd1 p28 and conversion harness to his car and the code went away so i'm guessing its some kind of obd2 thing? Or does he need to replace the wiring to the sensor or the actual sensor maybe?

Did he leave his primary o2 sensor unplugged? If not swap a known good four wire o2 sensor in. The reason the code went aaway is because 99% of reprogrammed ecus have the o2 sensor disabled.

No, we didn't even come close to touching the primary o2 sensor, so that's why it's really weird...

yup. Maybe I should try running the stock p28 program on it and see if it still does it.

Remove the o2 sensor and try cleaning it with a small amount of carb cleaner and clean rag. o2 sensor is a very sensitive piece of equipment and it does not take much to make them act up. If you're still throwing a code swap in a new one. BTW this is not an ecu problem. So swapping a stock p28 will accomplish nothing more than making the car run like ****.
