Hey i have a friend that has a pait of tien lowering springs that he gave me for my civic, and there the right kinda for my car and all, but if i take em to the local perf. shop is that all id need to lower my car?

yea but its better if you get aftermarket shocks too, and dont take it too a shop unless u have a friend thats doing it for free cuz its soo easy.

Yeah but after market shocks seem to be kinda pricey, because i never intented to spend money to drop my car, but if i gettin springs for free i figured why not, but its it gonna **** my car if i use the stock springs?

You can run it on stock springs.... it wont handle as good as a whole kit would... but it will still out handle your stock spring by 100x

You don't HAVE to get aftermarket shocks, but if you don't you run the chance of blowing your stock ones faster than usual. So it's your choice. Buying aftermarket struts/shocks will cost less in the long run.

i used to have the tein s-techs on my stock shocks. it rode smooth....nowhere near "performance" handling though..lots of body roll and just sloppy. now i have h&r race with agx's and rides however i feel like riding:-D

Its not gonna cost him any less in the long run.... if he runs the stocks till they blow then buys a set of aftermarket ones he isnt out any more money then if he just installed the new shocks at the same time as the springs.. Save your money up for new shocks later and run ur stocks for now since ur concerned about money

Allright, thanks a ton, also whats it like to instal these? ive looked into it a but but i dont have a "sprint compressor" so is it not possible for me to do?

It is possible, but I have heard it can be kinda dangerous. I guess just be careful. Oh, and I heard from someone else on here that you can rent one from Autozone. I thought he said it might even be free? Don't know why it would be, but you should check it out.

a spring compressor is only like 10/15 dollars. all you need is a basic socket set and you should be able to do it your self. if you're not familiar with it at, then i guess you could have someone be there to guide you with the install.

It's really not hard at all to do. It would also be a good idea to get an alignment done afterwards.

You can rent spring compressors from AutoZone for free. They charge your credit card, etc. then refund it when you return it. They're so simple to do, it's hard to believe I've known people that have paid the $150 to get them installed somewhere.

installing springs are really easy! i have helped 4 of my friends and we get it done usally in like 4 hours. while tiping a few back. lol

Hey don't worry...just go to auto zone like the others said...the spring compressors are free. BE VERY CAREFUL when you remove them as there is tremendous pressure put on the compressed spring. If you have seen the show Tuner Transformation they showed where the compressor gave out and the strut launched into the wall. Its like a missle and it will cause major injury.

When your done you will have to spend some money though as your alignment will be out of whack. Don't wait a day or two do it immed. Sears does a really good job and hopefully you have a straight body and not have to worry about camber adjustment...Honda doesn't have camber correction kits.

I had a friend who had a shop put aftermarket springs in his cavalier. Sad thing was they put them in upside down. retards

Definitely get an alignment done. Toe is what kills tires, not camber

ive changed stock springs before with the socket spring compressor set, and it is very dangerous.. the way it works is its 2 long brackets with bolts at the end.. and the more u tightin the brackets the more it compresses the spring.. u got to be very careful.. of the brackets arnt lined up PERFECT u can kill yourself.. me and my dad were on the last spring, and the brackets were alittle bit off, and the spring shot against the wall and put a decent size hole in it.. be very careful if your doing it this way

not one time has it gone smoothly for us. a bolt or something always goes wrong with at least one shock or strut!

I have Tein S-Tech's on stock struts. They ride better than stock springs. My struts haven't blown yet. I also know a few other people who have the same setup and haven't blown their stock struts. I think the S-Tech's are close enough to stock spring rates that they won't blow out struts very quickly.

usually you can find a shop that will do it for $40 bucks or so if you don't want to go through the hassle of doing it yourself. S-Tech's on stock shocks you'll be fine.
