Loud Metallic 'Pop' when car cools down?

Loud Metallic 'Pop' when car cools down?
Lately I've noticed my '96 EX Coupe emits a pretty loud metallic 'Pop' noise about a minute after I shut it off. It sounds like those popcorn pans with the tin foil over them, when a peice of popcorn goes off. It just does it once, not the normal cool down 'crackling' noises, but a pretty loud noise that I dont think should be happening. Any ideas? Thanks.
