A little suspension help please! thanks! :)
hey guys,
im looking into making my suspension VERY BEEFY. I mean outhandle most cars on the road. i know a thing or 2 or 3 about suspension from my mustang days however i see that hondas and their fwd foundation is different. What i have right now is pretty much junk with blown shocks and ricey obx coilovers which all came with the car.
I would like to know if this would be a good setup for ppl who have done it and what they would change or anythign with it. money is a bit of an issue so any crazy ideas are a no-no .here it is:
what i have already that i plan to keep are a front strut tower brace, gsr front sway bar.
what i want are:
Ground Control coilovers with some aggressive spring rates
koni yellows/ bilstein sp( i guess i would have to get a type r sway bar)
usdm type r rear sway bar
rear lower tie bar
rear tower bar
im running on azenis.
what can i expect from this kind of setup?
Im really going into autox so id like something solid and reliable.
sorry for being all mixed up. im just kinda confused.
my car: 95 cx , jdm type r swap, gsr brakes w/ebc greens, lots of goodies..

Do the OBX Coilovers use 2.5inch diameter springs? If so you can get custom rate springs from Eibach , I would leave off the rear bars you do not want to stiffen the rear up that much on a hatch, the type r swat bar would not be a bad idea though but without the rear strut tower bars. If you drive this on the street you could get 300lbs springs for the front and 450lbs for the back this is pretty streetable,
Personally if you shocks are shot I would jsut get some new shocks and go with your current setup, if you are just starting out in auto-x then seat time is what you need more of not mods.

thanks! do u know where i could find out info about obx stuff? also i didnt understand what u meant about the type r sway bar. do u mean that if i get the rear sway bar i shouldnt get the rear strut/tie bars or i SHOULD? thanks a bunch, any other info is greatly appreciated! im leaning towards from koni yellows even tho the bilstein sp would be nice but then i would need to get the type r control arms since i have an eg.

a full race adj damper system would make your car easily out handle most stock cars on the road. tein, zeal, buddy club, apexi, all make nice systems.

for the money G/C and koni's are nice. I run that setup but if i could do it all over again i would run true coilovers like some teins or zeals but that is just me.

ok sorry to be an ***, but its spelled TEIN's. And the are the best performance upgrade you can get for your car. I have the NA setup for my EK coupe. the handling is just incredible. I'm a suspension nut. I have the Tein NA, ST front and rear sway, Si front strut, and running Azenis. I run AutoX every chance i get and the Tein's handle beautifully. Hightly suggested. just my .02 cents

i am also worried about maitenance on the dampeners. are the gc ones easier to work on/parts then other brands such as tein or zeal?

Don't F around
If you're going to autocross, buy Koni shocks, and get any brand coilover you want, as long as it uses Eibach ERS springs (if the class allows),and stay below 450lb spring rates.
