Default Lightweight wheels - money in the garbage ?

Hi
I want your opinion at this:
I have a 92 HB b16a2 with CAI and Invidia catback and de-cat and i was thinking to buy some lighter wheels. My current Wheels are pretty heavy ( rimm + tire ) - about 37 pounds.
A friend of mine has some Ultralegerras wich are about 24 pounds one ( rimm + tire ) in the same size ( both 15's ) - There is some big difference.

In the first place the engine will spin faster and in the second place the car will be a little lighter with 4 of those.

I was thinking at 0.3sec better at 1/4 or something like that wich one set of those. Is it too much ? Anyone here experienced this ? Are not very cheap,i want to know if it will do some difference,or i should 'buy' some more horsepower instead. ( not very much parts to buy at this money )
Did anyone one tryed with same car to measure some times with light/leavy wheels ?

You will certainly notice a difference. Those are some Nice wheels brother.

Yes, it will be a little easier on you're drivetrain to spin lighter wheels.

Swing a hammer with the head out. Then hold the head and swing it. Which one's easier?

what tires are on the ultraleggera? They seem too light at 24lbs to be true. If you want to go light and cheap, find some HX or VX rims. Those are 11lb and 9lb respectively, but they're only 14 and 13" too.

Yeah the extra rubber will certainly add weight.

Tire width is always going to be important. And OE wheels are typically narrower.

The ultraleggerras are sweet. If you get a deal go for it.

The factor for weight savings to 1/4 is usually for every 100lbs shaved=.1 faster. Your saving 52lbs so that would be bout .05 quicker not .3 ( .03 thats a hella lot to shave down just from wheel set-ups). How much are you spending on wheels. Cause depending on the price you are going to spend you might want to invest in some good wheels & tires. Plus what are your riding pref.

So,you meen that shaving about 50 lbs i will 'earn' 15.75s from 15.8 at 1/4 ? that's almost nothing.I was expecting little more if the engine will spin faster.
I think the weight on the engine or wheels does kill power more than same weight in the car ( if you understand me )

no, the gains you'll see most are in braking.
my blades killed my breaking when i moved from my 13inch vx's, i plan on getting rid of them asap.

He is saving 52lbs of unsprung weight. Unsprung weight has a greater effect on acceleration, braking, etc. I forget the exact number, but I believe it is 1.4 to 1. So 52lbs of unsprung weight is like taking 72.8lbs of sprung weight off the car. Not a huge difference, but it helps.

Yeah,that's what i'm talking about
I knew that it's something like 2.0 to 1,anywhy weight on a part that moves / spins has a greatter effect like you said.

What is the main purpose of your wheel set-up. It your gonna be into drag only just buy a 2 really light weight 14 or 15's & put some badass drag radials on them. That cut you down a solid sec. if not more. Money well spent. You can ever look for light oem wheels. i had a pair of toyota corrolla rims once that were light as **** like 11lbs. Had a set of bf's on them. This is like 4 years ago. Droped as much as 1.2 secs faster once. Avg'd bout a solid sec.

You sure the rim + tire is only 24 lbs? That means the rim is only about 6 lbs... I'm just curious.
