I have a 98 civic lx, auto, 85000 miles, stock. The lights flicker and the heater fan motor speeds up and slows down on its own several times a minute. I installed a new battery, but it does the same thing. It doesn't matter if it's raining or nice out. Or if I'm in stop and go traffic or on the highway goin 80. Even the lights on my dash go from bright to dim on there own. I want to fix it myself. I thinking it's a bad ground or the alternator or voltage regulator. How can I check this out?

I had the same exact problem. It's the alternator. Pull it out and have it tested, i can almost promise you that's what it is. Best of luck.
