Default flickering lights

i have i 1998 honda civic. I drove about 300 kilometres just the other day at night and I noticed that after about 120 kilometres into the trip my headlights, the instrument panel lights, and the dashboard lights started flickering, going brighter then dimming to normal again. This NEVER happens around town... the last time it happened i was on another long trip. the flickering happened mostly a few minutes after turning on the radio or the AC... or for a few mins after i would go from a faster speed to a slower one or start going down a hill... and only at highway speeds...

i think it's alternator but im not sure. could it be some other electrical problem? has anyone else had this problem?

thanks for any suggestions!

Check battery, alternator, and fuses.

It could be something with the voltage regulator.

Here's more info, hope it helps / solves your problem.

First check the alternator belt tension -- it may be too loose. The belt also might be glazed and slipping because it's old.

If the belt is fine, then you likely need to replace the alternator.

voltage regulator makes sense too.

i think everything else is fine because i just had it all checked.... and the battery is just a couple of months old.... but it shouldnt hurt to check it all again

thanks for the suggestions!
