Koni Red adjustment tool.
Has anyone ever heard of or used this tool before?

The company sells mostly Porsche 928 parts, but I emailed them and was told that the tool will work with any car equiped with Koni Reds. It's basically an 18" 6mm allen key. Thoughts, opinions, comments.

I have Koni Reds on my 99 hatch. To adjust them, you need to push the shock piston all the way in and turn left/right - meaning, you need to put the shock shaft, padded with something, in a bench vise, then push the shock body up all the way and turn it clockwise/counter clockwise.
So....I don't see how this tool would help.

I thought the reds were unadjustable? Is this for stiffness or shock travel?

They are adjustable for stiffness, but the rod needs to be compressed and turned a certain way locking them at 1 of 3 desired settings. All the tool does is compress the rod, not the shock body. This is part of an email I received from them...
"No, it does not take a lot of pressure, as the shock is only resisting, you
are not compressing the spring at all. It works on all Koni reds with the 6
mm Allen in the top."

The Reds can be adjusted for stiffness - I think only rebound though. It has about 4-5 'turns' worth of adjustment range - so its not like a click-type of setting - you just count the #'s of turns from a full lock position.
On Koni's website, they have the adjustment procedure posted there.

Oh I see - so you have to take off the locking nut holding the top hat assembly together and using this tool, you compress the shock shaft down - I could see that working.

Cool. Thanks for the info everyone. I was under the impression from everything that I read that the reds were unadjustable.

Thats a really great idea. I can't believe Koni didn't think of that first, and sell the **** out of these things (Then they probably wouldn't be able to sell yellows). I wonder if the valveing on reds is the same as yellows? If so, I would have bought reds instead of paying way more for yellows (and having to strip that ugly yellow paint & clearcoat 'em).
