Knocking while turning

Knocking while turning
I have a 98 civic dx manual, replaced the tie rods and both cv axles already. It is like a deep knock that is wheel dependent. It does increase in noise while turning right. My girlfriend says she can feel it in the passenger seat. Any Ideas?

Somethings not tight or an axle isn't fully seated/already messed up. You really need to smack them to get them to push past the C-clip.

Is it possible that you may have installed the outter tie rod(s) backwards: right on left or vice-versa? If that happens they will knock everytime at full lock turns.

Re: Knocking while turning
I measured each sides outer tie rods to ensure that i didn't do that, plus measured the inner to the thread to make sure they were on the same thread when i put them back to keep alignment. Plus the box marked it.

I have not. I've been strapped for cash because of various vacations i have planned. I am also planning on buying a nissan d21 hardbody 5 spd in the next couple of months. I'll make sure to update when i can. I now believe that its just the wheel bearings. But no shop will do it for me without charging an arm and a leg, and i dont have a press at home to replace the bearing myself. Might go to the local pick-a-part and grab two entire steering knuckles and just replace the whole thing. Its much cheaper apparently haha

Re: Knocking while turning
good thinking, i have two extra boneyard knuckles.
i just drop em off at the shop with new bearings
and it's usually $20 each to press em in.
then i get the ball joint press kit from advanced
and do those myself. be sure to get good made
in japan bearings like timken, koyo, etc.
same goes for ball joints, moog is no longer a quality option. 8(
here's a handy guide:

your issue sounds more like a bad cv joint.
bad wheel bearing is more like a constant grind/hum
at hwy speed. you should feel play in the wheel
once it's jacked up when you grab and push/pull
on it if bearing is bad. empi and cardone are good choices
if your cv is bad.
