Default ls/vtec build knock sensor needed or not?

so i've read a few articles on the ls/vtec build. Either the b18a/b come with a knock sensor. Some people say the knock sensor is need and some say not. Also does anyone have the pin out's for adding the knock sensor into the stock 92-95 dx wirring.

i have a lsvtec running a chipped p28 it doesnt require me to use a knock sensor. Its really depend on what program ecu you wanna use or just tap in a knock sensor on the back of the block
