Default Key won't turn

I went out to start my car this morning and i had some trouble getting the key in the ignition, it would only go in about 2/3 of the way, then it finally went in, but wouldn't turn at all.

Does this sound like there is some ice in my keyhole or something, what could I do to fix this??

Thanks!!

If it's cold where you are and you maybe dropped your keys in the snow just before you got in your car and then put the key (w/ moisture) in the ignition, then perhaps you did ice it. That's the only thing that sounds logical to me unless your key is jacked.

Try putting hair dryer on it for about a minute, see if that does anything. Should tell you if it's an ice issue or not at least.

Did the key go any further into the lock than normal or not go in far enough? How worn out is your key? The key that came with my hatch was jacked and I had to pull the key out 1/8th of an inch or so after inserting it to get either the doors to open or the ignition to switch. The key was so bad the dealer had to cut it based on the VIN and not using the key as a guide to reproduce. The new key works like it should. I don't think this would be your problem as you didn't mention anything about a doorlock problem along with the column switch. The ice idea is really far-fetched even if you have a serious water leak into the cabin. Attempt to inject some sort of lubricant into the lock cylinder and try it again.

well, I did drop my key in the snow before i started my car, but the car started a couple times after that. I'll try some lock de-icer, and if that doesn't work, I'll be back later.

Well of course it started a couple times. The water hadn't had time to freeze. If the lock de-icer works, I guess we nailed the problem.

Well, I went outside, armed with my trusty hair dryer, hit the **** for a few minutes, car started right up.
