just swapped a b16, idle is too high/unsteady
I just finished swapping a obd2 b16a2 into a eg, using stock p28. From time to time when i first start the car, it will idle correctly. after you touch the gas is starts acting weird. the idle wont go down past about 2 grand, except when it will go down and start bouncing between 800 and 1300 every second or so. All the hoses seem to be connected, although i broke the purge valve during the swap and still have it plugged in. should i unplug this? anything else i should be aware of and check?

I would say FITV too, that is if your motor has one. I think they did away with this after 95. If not the FITV, it might be a vacuum leak. Also, check that you have some slack in your throttle cable when the throttle valve is closed.

Re: just swapped a b16, idle is too high/unsteady (RTI)
I found half of the problem. The throttle cable is sticking. I discovered that when i use my foot and pull up on the accelerator, the idle shoots back down, but it starts bouncing between 800 and 1300 rpm's.
I tried unplugging that sensor, didnt change anything. I dont think theres a vacuum leak. ill look into the fitv thing.
Now how do i adjust how much slack in the throttle cable? i already adjusted it on the intake manifold where the bracket is, is there a place to adjust on the pedal?
However i believe it is the throttle body itself where the spring is. That is dirty looking and it doesnt go all the way closed even with no throttle cable in. Is there a way to fix it or do i just need a new one?
