1. i would invest in a swap
2. then i/e/h
3. suspension
4. then you'll have to think about investing in your fuel system
5. turbo or n/a components
have fun

I'd say start with your suspension. Get it really nice (springs, coilovers, full coilovers, shocks, wheels, tires) then move on to the engine and decide what you want to do with that.

Re: Just got my new hatchback.... (ZERO COOL)
Don't get I/H/E until you have decided on whether you would like to do NA or Turbo... seeing as how you'd change everything if you went Turbo. HOWEVER, I think the first thing to do is get a nice suspension... not too hardcore, maybe just lower it with some shocks and springs. then motor swap. That's the plan I am doing.

Yeah...I was looking to go with coilovers...either ground controls or skunk2..what do you guys recommend? Also, do i need to really need to change my shocks, they seem ok to me.

You don't necessarily have to change your shocks, but it's a good idea. When you lower your car it makes your shocks work harder. You can probably go for a while with your stock shocks, but it won't be the best ride/handling that you will get with an aftermarket shock such as the KYB AGX's or Koni Yellows. I have ridden in both Skunk2's with stock shocks and H&R Race Springs with KYB AGX's I have to say that the Race Springs with the AGX's blow the Skunks out of the water. But in the end, it's up to you... that's just my input.
