Default Junkyards kick ***!!

Went to the junk yard today for project del sol.... complete interior except for the center console, guague cluster stock cover (one that shows the blinkers, high beams, CEL , etc) mint condition tail lights, **** load of fuses which i always take from junk yards cuz you can never have enough, and enough hardware to do 5 more del sol interiors. Next on the list i wanna rip out a turbo. I was thinking a turbo from a volvo. Just a quick question but what should i spend on a home made turbo for a daily driver on stock internals probably only 8 lbs of boost if i build it myself.. not asking for parts list just wondering how deep i should be digging in my pockets.

i've seen people throw together homemade turbo kits for as low as 500 bucks. Check out Homemadeturbo.com

I would avoid buying a turbo from a junkyard, reason being they will try to charge an arm and a leg for one just because it's a turbo. Despite, they're not cheap; I would imagine they would try and get more than what it's worth.

you could piece together your own turbo off the internet for pretty cheap. If your looking for under 10 psi, you won't have to spend that much money. You'll be able to get your piping for dirt cheap off of ebay if thats the way you want to go.

Thats always been the junkyard code. If it fits in your pocket, it's free.

no ebay ****... or autozone specials for that matter. i want quality at its lowest price so if thats $1500 tell me. so when deciding on how much i should spend dont include ebay please i dont want to gamble. I like to trust name brands and go with that and what you guys think who have done it or just know what to do..."You can get a good look at a t-bone by stickin you hand up a bulls *** but id rather take the butchers word for it" lol thought i'd toss in that quote seems to be a good spot for it

Screw junkyards man, they will rip you off,so why not rip them off. Some guy wanted to charge me 200 for half a door for an integra (sawed off down the middle) Now what the hell am i going to do without half a door We just throw **** over the fence near the road and pick it up down the road on our way out

My friend and i decided to be nice people and fix his girlfriends door on her ford taurasss last weekend. He drives an M3 and i drive a Del Sol so neither of us wanted anything to do with this taurass. I tell him ill go to the junkyard and pick one up for us to slap on. Go there find one thats the same color then realize oh **** he didnt give me any money and i have no way of payin for a friggin ford door should be 5 bucks but i dont have that... So i decided that ill take the free cart they gave me to wheel my door and go straight to my truck with the door and cart load them both into my truck and bail. All works good the doors on fine but then i get a call the next day from the junk yard. im thinking oh **** now im gonna have to pay for the door this sucks. Guy asks for his cart back i tell him im sorry when i drop it off and still never for the taurass door. Gotta love junkyards no need to throw **** over the fence just walk right out the front gate with what ever you want.

all i can say is as much as you got to spend on a kit you can spend it all. dont cheap out on parts you will regret it in the end

There is no way we're going to be able to give you an accurate price on this; you're best bet is to call the junkyard and find out. Once you get a price, I'm sure someone here on Honda-Tech will have a better one for cheaper.

I'd say budget around a grand or so,and get good **** the first time around Obviously minor stuff such as charge pipes and couplers, you can cheap on. And you can even be as cheap as making your own 3 inch exhaust and just using a muffler tip at the end.

Turbo's muffle it quite a bit tho if im not mistaken so maybe once i do that just go straight pipe maybe with a rasonator to make it sound a little deeper... I think that would sound nice. And at that price looks like ill be boosted this summer
