Junk or Treasure? D16 engine...
I'm serious about doing an engine swap maybe even this summer. I was crunching the numbers and I was just wondering if I was to sell my old D16 how much it would be worth. It's a '99 Civic EX engine with 22K on it right now. Thanks in advance.

B18C1 swap = $3000-$4000 installed (actually may be higher since you need a 1999 engine to be legal); run low 15's
D16Y8 turbo = $1500-$3000; run low 15's to low 14's on low psi
========
I like turbo.

I have a 97 dx sohc (80,XXX) in my garage with no 2nd gear and no compression in cyl 4. Also no wiring harness. Anyone in texas want it can pick it up for free??? Need to get rid of it, as it takes up space.

There is a lot of potential in those motors in the right hands... you just have to find someone that will appriciate it and give you a fair price!

Any idea how much money the D16 would go for if I was to do the swap $$$$? The b18c1 has good potential and I think that I, being a newbie, would have an easier time getting the performance I want out of a b18 rather than the d16. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a b18c5, but I'd be spending more money that I don't have. SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! Any comments would be welcome.

I would probably sell the whole package together. Wouldn't that be the best way? I would get the most out it that way.
