Default jdm motor help!

anyone know if a older jdm motor will pass smog in a newer chassis> i'm looking into dropping a jdm h22 in my 97 ek

the motor always has to be at least a year newer than the chasis i believe.

ok thanks. i was almost suckered into buying a 95 jdm H22 cause the guy swore up and down that it doesn't matter. he was probably just trying to make a quick buck. thanks again!
