JDM EG Cluster?

JDM EG Cluster?
I swapped in my JDM EG cluster awhile ago, and everything works fine. My question is My car has airbags and as such has a yellow plug for them behind the gauge cluster. The problem is the JDM cluster has no plug in for the yellow plug, so this yellow plug is currently unplugged.
Will the airbags still function in the event of an accident without this plug being plugged in?

I don't think that it will work. The connection wont be complete.

I've been in 3 major acciddents (all head on and not my fault), no air bags, injurys within the three; sprained arm, brused shins, brused neck, and a headache.
My friends in minor accidents with air bags, now have back and neck injuries for life.
Still want that airbag to work? I disconnected the plug, green I think, under my steering wheel and the plug behind my gauge cluster. IMO and experience, you'd almost be better off with it not working.
My $.02

oh god. thats the worst bullshit i've ever heard. so those 5 star crash test ratings mean nothing when you go out and buy a car? millions of dollars have gone into R&D for airbags.

yup! i buy what i want for my reasons, not by what others think. most of the people in the world do too.
if i wanted an extremely safe car, i sure as hell wouldn't have bought a civic.

Re: JDM EG Cluster? (hayabusa160)
if you think airbags are bad, just think how bad he was injured with the airbags, now think how bad he would have been without them. I am not a fan of airbags but that is my opinion.

I think that in a slower less severe accident the airbag is going to cause more harm than good. But in a major accident it can help, i'd rather have a broken nose rather than a broken head.

I know that if you don't wear your seatbelt you can literally get killed by an airbag no matter how trivial the accident. I have to agree with JUN EK9 tho, if airbags did more harm than good when properly used automakers simply wouldn't use them otherwise they'd get sued to bits...

You can actually pull the yellow light and plug out and stick it in your JDM cluster, you just won't see it illuminate unless you cut out the hole for it.
But definately swap the light an plug over, it will clip in and fit. Trust me. Just dont do this:

BACK ON TOPIC
I was in a collision and ruined the entire front left of my car and my airbags did NOT deploy using a JDM EG CLUSTER
cheers

Re: (KOALA YUMMIES)
those gov't saftey rating dont mean a whole lot though... I was watching dateline I think it was not too long ago but they were testing SUV gov't safety ratings against an insurance company's safety ratings...
in all of the tests except for a few where the gov't gave the car a 5 rating... the car had failed the insurance company's safety rating because there was a certain death in the event of a crash... The only cars that had passed the insurance company's test had side curtain air bags. and there were only 3 cars that came with side curtain airbags but they still got 5 from the gov't.
just my .02

I believe on the APEX V-AFC meters, and speed meters, you have to enter in your tire/wheel size for it to be accurate. That's the whole thing behind this. You can get your actual speed, instead of what the cluster says, cause if you change your wheels to another size other than factory, then your cluster is out of whack.
And as for me, about the JDM cluster, EG6's didn't come with airbags, so your only option is to do what Koala said, and swap over the yellow plug. Will that work though? Doesn't it have to be like included in the circuitboard on the cluster backing? Oh well, my cluster is out of whack anyways. Does any of your JDM clusters have the door diagram lights working? Mine dont, and the ebrake indicator only lights up when I turn my key to start the car. Oh well, at least the SRS light is gone, cause it dont have one! My JDM steering wheel caused the original cluster light to go on, like normal when you disconnect the airbag.

Re: (DjGuamstyle)
Very good DjGuamstyle. That is correct, the tires have been changed and are corrected for on the RSM. Nice catch.
BTW the SRS clip will unplug from your old cluster with eveything, it is COMPLETELY stand-alone from the rest of the cluster.
