Default ITR head on B16..... need a remap?

I know this has probably been discussed loads, but I swear to god I've been searching for the last 30 minutes and found nothing! So I thought I'd just fire away and ask the Q!

I've bought a 99 spec UK ITR head, with cams and all the valvetrain. Aswell as the IM and TB. Now, I also have got an emanage but not installed it yet.

Problem is, obviously I want to install the head/cams as soon as I can, but I can't afford to have the E-manage mapped yet.

So my Q is, with the standard B16A2 ECU, am I going to be running lean at any point if I install the cams and head now? Or should I wait until I can afford to get it mapped soon after?

Obviously I don't want to be running lean and munching the pistons, but I'm desperate to get this **** fitted, it's just sat here looking at me!

Cheers!

my question to you is how long would it takr you to save up that much money to get the ecu mapped? if not too long i would say to leave it the way it is...

you'll be fine for now. basically its just a slightly polished head with better cams and valve train.

Hi, thanks guys,

Yeh, it wasn't the actual head that I was concerened about, more so the cams and the lack of fuel that they might be getting?

You should be ok. That head is basically just a better ported version of ur stock head and a little more aggresive cams. Just check ur plugs as long as they look good after u have ran ur car with the head u will be fine.

OK, what should I be looking for on the plugs if it turns out that I am running lean? Will I be OK to give it some abuse or should I try and not VTEC as much as I can?

Thanks

your plugs should have a lightish brown. If you are running lean they will look white
