Default issues with vtec

i've got a jdm b16 in my 93 civic, and i am having issues with vtec. the motor has been in my car for close to a year now with no problems. i let my friend borrow my car for a week while i borrowed his for a show. anyways, i get it back, and now vtec doesn't engage till 6500 rpm... any ideas of why this would happen? my power steering also sounds like it's going out, but that's beside the point. why would vtec not kick in til 6500 rpm? i tested to see if my tach was off, so i bounced it off the rev limiter at 8200 like usual, so that's not the problem.

i hate to say it bro but there are people that think they are my friends too but i watch them closely because i dont want them switchin out my stuff. u might wanna look at the ecu and see if its the right one u never know. unless u mysteriously got a vtec controller vte engagement should have not changed its all in the ecu.

Well mine is all wierd too... I think its just my tach tho. My vtec doesnt engage till 6k and i still havent pegged the rev limiter going past 8500 on the tach! I just assume its off in the high range since it was calibrated for a dseries....I hope

I honestly could not think of another reason for it not to engage correctly unless it is an ecu problem...if he has the same motor/comp as you, try pulling his out and using it in yours? But if VTEC is working then I would put my money on the ECU being the problem.
