Installing hid's ran into a problem!
I am almost done with my hid retro I put both the projectors and headlight housing on the car just to see how it would look. The driver side lights up fine and when I connected the passenger side it just flickered a real dim light I connected them both straight to the battery. Now that light that was flickering, that ballast and harness I have hooked up about twice before directly to the battery. Do you think it could have fried the wires on the harness, or do I need to put bigger fuses in? I can't think of where to start please help.
Thanks
Scott

if it is flickering then the bulb may be shot. This happened to a friend of mine, And he replaced the bulb and the problem was fixed.

Are you blowing fuses also?I believe I read somewhere that most people have to upgrade to like a 20a fuse.good luck.

take it apart and see if theres something visually wrong and go fix it if there is, but more than likely youre gonna end up buying a new ballast.
i know ive seen most ballasts that break have problems with the coil getting too hot and unsoldering itself from the connection point (or at least on grow light ballasts) but you can resolder only so many times.

for hids i think you need to swap out the 10a for a 20a and if you have a high beam then change to a 30a but if you had a 10a in there it would've burnt out so not sure if thats much help but you should check that anyways

I opened the ballast and everything looks ok to me nothing burned. Checked my fuses they are all good. The wires leaving the ballast in some spots, I can see the actual silver wire itself where the plastic has melted from around it on the black and red wires in some spots. Could this be the peoblem?
Thanks

That is correct, you need to upgrade the headlight fuse.

Did you say you put projector headlights on your car? how did you get the hids to fit in there? I am getting some soon and need to know how to retrofit or modify them to fit.

Are you serious? Even if that wasn't the problem, wouldn't you want to replace them? It sounds like you need to get new wires for starters. Also check for shorts, and make sure that everything is grounded properly. FYI, melted wires are almost a guarantee that you have a short.

Re: (TallAssFilipino)
I paid $375 for them. Retrofitting them was the easiest part imo. I have tried to take the wires out and replace them but can't seem to get them out. I am going to buy some different ballasts all together and sell the good one that I have. If I cannot get this one to work. I think I melted them by hooking them straight to the battery too many times. Now when I try to connect them the ballast makes a little clicking noise.

I see. You could have gotten a brand new set of McCullochs for arouond $300 new on eBay. And they're plug 'N play.
