Default INFO: Airbag cover for DC2's in Carbon fiber

Ok.. I know that you can get a Filler tray for around 100-150 new. What I'm needing info on is how many people would be intrested in a Carbon Fiber Airbag cover for a DC2 dash.

This will not be the "Tray style" it will be just a direct fit cover for the airbag hole (meaning it looks like an airbag, but in carbon fiber)

Let me have the info back to see if anyone would be intrested..........

---- Move this to classifieds if need be Tom ------

it could fit the EG/Del sol, if the demand is there. The guy who is making it has an extra DC2 airbag cover sitting around, so he's toying with that one first.

the price is not determined yet, becuase I do not know how the quality of the 1st productions will be. The 1st productions will most likly be a stick on application. Down the road Myself, and my partner who is making them, will make them so that they can be securly bolted down from the bottom of the dash (Factory location)

Estimated guess on 1st productions is $130. I will take pics of the work in progress to the finished product.

Also, You can have the choice of having it clearcoated or unfisished look.

alright bro, a "non-tray style carbon fiber airbag cover" can easily be translated into a "FLAT PLATE that is 6" x 12" with clips to hold it down"! 130$ my ***, for 20$ ill buy a used p.o.s cf hood that came unlatched on some poor bastard and cut it up and sell 10 of these 'covers'. seriously man, rethink this asap.

this isn't flat. it looks exactly like an airbag. curved, and textured just like the factory airbag. I could make a tray for it, but it would invole alot more time, and I want to see how hard this is to make.

Also, i do not have a mold to make a "Tray-style" one. I will take pics to see what people say..

Once again.. there is no set price. I mean, damn, a Piece of plastic from JDMhondaparts.com is $150 plus shipping.

youre talking about a factory jdm honda part that is functional, i'm telling you not to price these things over 40$ or they wont sell, and if you can make a tray style sell it for under 100 as well, or else people will have no reason not get the oem one.

i hear ya. We're just doing this as a project to see what It'll come out. That's why I'm asking all these questions.

Oh, i found out it will be made from 6k carbon. and possibly have honeycomb inbetween. so there will be no fiberglass in it.

sorry for getting pissy, but you can buy sheets of cf online for very cheap, you should just think about picking up a few and using some kind of rubber molding around the edges where it needs to be cut, market that and mark it up a bit if you are set on selling these, or seriously find a busted hood, it has the curved shape you were talking about. imho it's not worth the effort to custom make these unless you are doing a tray, and then i would consider buying one if it is less than the oem honda, and fits as well. i could have used a 3" deep tray myself today
