increased speed...
I own a 95 civic DX. Why does it seem to increase acceleration at 4000rpm. How can I make that extra speed kick in at a lower rpm? How can i get more acceleration period at lower rpm's??

Re: increased speed... (vaggabon)
Power = torque x rpm. Unfortunately, 1.5 and 1.6L hondas have no torque so the power cannot be felt until the upper RPM's. Upgrade to a 1.8L honda engine or get a different car.

Why? Because they can run 11's for less than 10K? (it was a joke don't attack me kids).
B18 is the 1.8, the B18B is the LS DOHC non-vtec version, B18C are the DOHC VTEC model.

Re: increased speed... (bad93ex)
That was my first idea but I figure a B18 would be a little easier since it would fit the stock motor mounts?...and a little cheaper for a good upgrade! Whats ya'll thought on that?

Mmm 5.0's I dont know which I like more...driving them or beating them with my Civic.
Really though look into the b18 series engine and the h22. Both have advantages and give out some pretty fun power.
Im a fan of the jdm itr engine...for those that just want to drop in an engine and run high 13's its hard to beat. Cost is another matter.
