I'm using a P75 ecu on Mini Me
I have a 97' Hatch that I bought a year ago with a mini me swap in it. It was built with a 92-92 vetec head. Well its smog time for it here in Cali and I can't smog it with the p28(Sold), so I bought a p2p which was good except for the CEL for Knock Sensor. I replaced the sensor but the Cel still pops up when the engine is revved over 2500 rpm for about 30 secs . So long story short I swapped it out for a p75 and all it well, no Vtec but that cool for now cause I just need to smog. But I just found out that it'll make the car run rich. I advanced the timing and put in 91oct but I don't know if that will lean it out enough.
Any suggestion ??? I have to go to a STAR Smog facility !

How ? I bought the peizo transducers but haven't installed them yet. Is that what you are talking about ?

Re: I'm using a P75 ecu on Mini Me
Ok, I did the bypass and so far so good, I put 62 miles with no Cel for KS. I do have 2 other Cels(p0450 & p0453) due to the FTPS. I'm going to try the potentiometer thing for that. As it stands right now I can erase them and they won't come back on for a couple days.
Thanks for the help guys !

Cali is pretty strict about smog and inspection. Your best bet is to get the ECU for a 97 Civic Ex and fix all the CEL issues then you should pass no issues. However you may run into issues with the Z6 head on that block, LS Vtec is not legal in Cali so I would assume Mini Me is as well since it is the same concept.

I'm using a 96-98 Ex ecu(P2P). Mini me is hard to notice cause the heads looks the same. I was told as long the block is a D16y7 I should be good. The Cels are because the ecu is looking for something that the stock ecu doesn't normally has.

A lot of smog tech's know what to look for, I just registered my bone stock 99 Civic Lx, Wyoming to California and they crawled all over the car and when I asked what they were looking for, he said they're looking to make sure that the correct head is on the non vtec block with the correct catalytic converter and ecu.

Re: I'm using a P75 ecu on Mini Me
So I put the p2p ecu back in and did 2 piezo transducer's and for the most part it worked. I've had the KS Cel 3 times since doing the transducer's but I think it'll work for me for smog, may just have to adjust them a little or keep my foot out of it.
I was still getting the P0450 & P0453 for the Evap Emissions & FTP sensor(lack of having one). I was going to try the potentiometer thing but I had a thought to jumper a wire from my splice for the transducer's(D6) to the signal wire for the FTP(D15). I read that the ecu is looking for a voltage and using the potentiometer voltage is set and does not move which will make the ecu eventually learn because it doesn't sense any movement like the tank is getting empty. Since the transducer voltage moves constantly I figure it might work. I did this today and drove 62 miles to work and then to gym on lunch and back with no Cels. Usually when I erase those Cels(p0450 &p0453) they stay off for a few starts but then come back. I'll see what happens when I start my car tomorrow to go do a pre smog test.

Re: I'm using a P75 ecu on Mini Me
Went to go pre smog yesterday and because I messed with my transducer before I left the Cel came on for KS 4 times. Because of that I didn't drive the car long enough(100miles) to fully reset the ecu. Good thing though is that the Cel's p0450 and p0453 did not come back on after doing the transducer trick. Plus I have a crack in my manifold and the tech couldn't officially smog me cause he wasn't a star smog(test only) shop.
So I gotta fix those things try it again.
