Default I'm 16, anyone got any good ideas..

Hey guys, I just turned 16, getting the L's in Feburary. Would have them now, but drinking accident kinda threw it back. So anyway, I'm looking to get a 92-95 civic hatch and swap it with a b-18. I was just wondering how hard it really is & how much it might cost. I know i sound like a kid with a dream, but i think it will work. My friend did it not to long ago and he said he would help, but i just wanna hear from other people. I'm sick of all the cars at my school being cavilers & escorts with rims and an exaust. I just want something with a little power ya know? Well get back with me please. Thanks...

Call me old fashion but I think being a teenager and still in school, I don't think spending all the money (at least a large portion of it) on a car is really necessary. Sure you get peer pressure from schoolmates but I have seen and heard quite a few people selling their car because they need money for college, or school needs, or whatever.

A car gets you from A to B and that's all it does. If you really need a car to attend school, by all means, buy one. But most people mod their car as leisure acitivity and are doing so with their spare money. Most of them have a steady income so they can allocate a portion of it onto their cars. I hate to see young kids work 30+ hours a week part time just so they can have a car to impress a few people and ingnore their acadamic status, and force to sell the car because gas is too expensive, insurance is too high, and they need money to go to college.

Just my 2 cents, and sorry for the long lecture.

All you wanted to say was:

"I just want to swap a B18 swap into a 92-95 civic hatch...how hard is it? What do I need?"

There...that's all H-T cared about. Well it's good to do a search!

Things to look for:

-Year of the motor (obd1 is easiest)

-It'll be easier if it's a complete swap, or else you'll be on a journey to collecting parts (like me) such as axles, shiftlinkage, mounts, etc.

-VTEC motor....if your car is wired for vtec or not. if it is wired for vtec, then it's a breeze..if not, you'll have to run some wires. take a look at Hybrid Garage Tech & Honda Swap Forum

Well that's all I have right now. Anyone can add to this....

No joke. Having a boosted hatch in HS was about the worst idea I could EVER have done. Everyone wanted to race with me all the time and I constantly got asked stupid questions about the car.

There was a 68 Nova with a purple/black fade from front to back on it and that was by far my favorite car at the school. There were a couple M3s (one kid had 2 of them in 2 years) and a 2.5RS.

EDIT: My suggestion, save your money. Don't do crap to the car and save for real life stuff that you'll need if you plan on moving out when you get out of HS.

The only real things that are going to get you any noticeable power are a swap and boosting your car. Either one is costly and hardly worth it if you don't track the car IMHO.

Damn, my HS was ghetto. On 2 seperate occasions, about 15 cars were broken into. There was a tennis court right by the parking lot but it was raining on both of the days so nobody was there. Some of my friends were in there classroom look out of the windows WATCHING the guy(s) do this and the teacher told them to stop looking out the window and pay attention to him.

come on guys give the kid a break its all about being buck wild in school with a pimped out car he will get mad booty its sad to say but if you want any action you gotta have a decent car its reality most females are materialistic brats but thats the way it is in today's time we have to be "accepted" by our peers or deal with being a no body and that sucks everyone wants to be accepted and to answer his questions you have tons of options on the car but dont go overboard you could start out with a simple mini -me head swap get rims exhaust and intake the b18swap will cost about a grand thats for a non vtec ls motor and if you do it yourself
but if you want more power youll have to open your wallet it all depends on how fast you wanna go your best bet is to go to a book store and get a few books on how to build you honda ive bought about 6 books and they have shown me what i can do and how easy they are to do those books are in the transportation section of your local books a million happy tuning

Back in my HS days, we had a Stealth. That kid had the highest grade out of our graduating class, and his father bought him the car. The other kid, worked part time, very hard and got a 92 Celica. But his grade wasn't too exciting. Me, I took bus to school.

In University, a large portion of it are Chinese. Pimp cars like 911 and S class are all over the place. Some of them didn't bother to modify it, they just change cars once a year after they get bored of it. Me, I lived on campus and rode my bike.

My first car, which is my current car, I obtained it at 25. Never had the money to do so, and never wanted to distract my school work with other unnecessary hassle but just focus on getting the degree and start in my profession. I enjoy my car, every minute of it.

I'm 16 myself, and I must say that any info you could ever need about a honda is right here on H-T. If you're gonna mod, I recommend boostin a SOHC. It's, #1, a helluva lot cheaper than a B18c swap, and #2, more powerful than a B18c swap. I worked for my own car, and paid for all my mods out of my summer work money.

Personally, I don't recommend it for you. You got caught drinking, you're obviously not a straight A student. Unless you have some kind of money flow(hence why my modding is winding down for the year, no time for a winter job), it's going to get very expensive. You will run into unexpected things, no question about it, and those are also sometimes mucho dinero.

being almost 21 now... my advice is to do the following:

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!

Seriously, if you get bit by the honda bug.. or any other kinda car... you'll find yourself working for nothing but your car and drooling over **** you can't afford. Thats my story these days anyway.

No one ever listens to that warning anyway

maybe to you sounds like good advice.... and maybe to 90% of the high schoolers that put money into their cars its true... **** i work because i love my car.... yea most people give me **** about it because i dump half my paycheck into my car payment and the other half into mods but i dont care what they think... i love working on cars and obviously its expensive...i work 35 hours a week and go to school all day... but its worth it for me...

i say do what you want... its your money... if you arent going to be into cars for the long haul id agree with this guy... otherwise go for it
