Default ignitor and coil swap...

Lately my D15Y7 has had a lot of trouble starting when hot outside. I've narrowed it down to either the ignitor, or the ignition coil (not sure which). I don't really want to dish out the cash for parts b/c I'll be putting in an LS in a month or two. Now, my question is this: Will the ignitor and coil from my obd-0 b18a1 work in my obd-1 d15y7? I have a feeling it won't due to the electrical differences, but I thought I'd ask. Please help oh gurus of the honda
.
.
*EDIT: I decided to check out the main relay and see what I can do. It's a free fix if it's the problem, and preventative maintenance if it isn't. I found two connections that were cracked. After soldering those up I parked the car outside in the blistering heat with the windows rolled up to test it. Lo and behold, it started like a charm! This was definitely the problem. There was no way the car would have started in these conditions before the fix. Thanks guys!

99% that the problem is your main relay going out. Try that first.

Thanks. I know I've seen a "main relay fix" thread on here, so I'll give that a try first. Just in case that isn't it, I'm still interested to know about the ignitor and coil thing. or ?

Warm weather and hard starting I would start with bad connections (GFS green fuzzy ****). What do you have problems with cranking, or actually firing off.

If cranking check for corrosion around battery and starter, check the grounds.

If firing off check the cap and rotor, wires, plugs, and grounds.

It cranks well and strong. Never any problems with that and the battery is only about 2 months old. I bought the car from my cousin who is a car stereo installer, so everything is grounded very well to accomodate the stereo, dvd changer, and screens. There is also a bit of oil on the plugs. I know this isn't exactly helping things, but I haven't dealt with it cuz I'll be swapping really soon. Besides, I don't think the oily plugs is causing it cuz it only has trouble starting when its been sitting in the sun. If i push it into the shade and let it sit for 20-30 minutes it's usually fine.

that is your main relay for sure. As for the ignitor and coil, it is pretty srtaight forward. Make a scratch in the ear of your distributor in a straight line onto the head so that it can be lined up right back where it came from. pull the cap and rotor off once it's on the bench and you will be able to see what you need to replace easily if you have your new parts laying there. Just a few screws and plugs.

I'm 99.9% that it's your main relay. Same thing happened in my brothers DA9, would start and then immediately die when it was hot out. We replaced the main relay and now it starts and stays started everytime.

Yes, I would try changing the ignitor coil since you said it was used. I'd get a brand new one in there and see if that makes it start consistanly without you having to keep your fan on.
