Ignition question...
okay so i was thinking since so many cars are being stolen ect. ect. would it be possible to relocate the ignition switch to lets say under the seat? I see of course obivous problems such as the steering wheel lock which is incorporated in the ignition switch. This would make it slightly harder for a theif to figure out wtf is going on when there isnt a place to put a key and therefor wires to hotwire it or whatever. Does anyone else have any ideas, i very well know that this might be the dumbest idea ever i thought i would risk me e-rep to ask it lol.

You would have to extend some rather large wires. Basically there are tons of other theft prevention mods out there that are 100x easier and much more effective. I think a removable clutch pedal would be cool. ROFL..

yea i'll make one for you lol
:goes and boxes up a portable sawzall and ships its out:
lol
i might just do it for ***** and giggles, and make a new c/f cover over the steering column so there isnt a hole there. Will there be an issue with the steering wheel lock though?

Only the dumbest theives would stick around to try and find where you moved the IG switch to. So I say if you want to, go for it..

Most people incorporate a “kill switch” (cleverly hidden somewhere near the drivers area or under the dash or invest in a good lock out alarm (you know…. Smart technology). Hey get a switch, find a nice hiding place that makes you comfortable, wire it to the ground of your battery. The only way they can drive off is if they pop the hood and re wire your batt cable. I’ve also heard of removing all door handles, the only way in is through the remote alarm (which auto pops open the door). Just pray you don’t get a dead batt though…

Re: (Soccerking3000)
I'm so PISSED about my ride getting stolen again yesterday. I'd like to just wire up a pipe bomb that's set off by a switch under the driver's seat that you'd have to deactivate each time you got in. I can just imagine that thing going off in the middle of the night...hearing pieces of thief rain down on the neighborhood.
My GSR had shaved handles and it was such a pain in the *** when the batt died. Looked sick though.

Re: (dogbiscuit)
does it look like i own a GM? i am still tinkering with the steering wheel lock cause i dont want to break anything... too much. but i only nned to extend 3 8-10 awg wires wichs isnt too bad, plus the turbo timer wires

Re: (jameskersten1)
no need, all you need is 3 kill switches hidden within your car, for the ignition, fuel pump, and ecu. even if they manage to find one of them, car still wont start. if your paranoid, just take out the ecu then everytime u leave ur car, ecu w/ quick rls

Re: (poptik)
so obviously there are many methods of making sure the car won't start...
As far as the CD deck...I wonder how effective taking the faceplate out of the car really is. Wonder how many times CD decks napped w/o the face in the car?
