Idle problems
I have a 96 Civic EX - 5 speed (Canadian 4 door model)
When I first start my car in the morning my idle drops down to the point where it wants to stall. Once it goes down low enough the car is smart enough to give it more gas and brings it back up. If I leave with the car right away, it will hesitate. If I keep on the gas it will bog down and all of a sudden kick in. As soon as I get to a stop sign it wants to die down again. It only happens for a few minutes though, then it's ok.
I have seen posts to clean the IACV but I am not too sure where to find it? Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: Idle problems (Zimmi)
THe IACV is on the back of the intake manifold there is 2 bolts holding it on and then a sensor is hooked into it.
This is not a problem with your IACV, sounds like maybe a throttle body or throttle cable issue.
I have ran with my IACV unhooked for days and all it does is just keep the car idling really low all the time. It wouldent hurt to clean it out.
Take it out spray some carb cleaner in it
LOADS OF IT
shake it
shake it all out
and repeat a few times. if this dont help try adjusting the throttle cable, cleaning out your throttle body, cleaning out your intake manifold and so on. BTW here is a tip, if you think you can speed up the process by blowing into the IACV hole when u sprayed carb cleaner in it your wron, you will burn the hellllll out of your lips and be on the ground crying for days. carb cleaner + skin = OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW i leard the hard way by burning my lips reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy bad.
best of luck

don't obd-2 cars have cold start sensors etc, like obd-0? i could be wrong, but it's just a thought. i'd go with cleaning the iacv for starters as well.

take a look at the fitv.
its below the throttle body and held on by 3 screws. what usually has to be done to the fitv is there is a back cover plate held on by 2 screws and inside is a white plastic piece, you screw that plastic piece back in.
if its only happening when the motor is cold id bet on the fitv first.
