Default idle problem with b16 in 93 cx

I just swapped a second gen b16 into my buddy's 93 civic hatch cx. It idles fine until you rev it too high then it starts revving real high and then dropping (don't know how high and low cuz it doesn't have a tach). It sounds like a vacuum leak to me, but i can't find one. The only codes it's throwing are a 21 (vtec solenoid) and 41 (o2 sensor) or vice versa. Any suggestions?

Good suggestion, thanks. I'll give that a try. I actually have one too so no thanks on that offer though.

Check two things:

-Fast Idle Valve (Located below the throttle body w/ a coolant line going in)
-Throttle Cable (I had this problem. It was getting caught on something)

P.S. - If those things don't work out for you, try the "Search" button.

Incase you can't find it, it's the one in the top right hand corner that says..... "Search".

That was my "nice flame". But for real, this has been discussed almost more than any other topic.

First of all, I'm brand new to this board so i haven't "searched" around yet. Second, I usually try to search for the topic I need info on but I just end up finding some guy trying to find the solution to his problem and it ends up being a stupid conversation between two dumbasses talking **** to each other, completely distracted from the subject, while the poor guy keeps checking his post just to find a bunch of b.s. I just wanted to ask my own question to make it personal to my situation in hopes that that wouldn't happen here. Maybe this forum is different from most of the other ones, I guess I'll find out. By the way I just blew out the little screen on the IACV and the idles cool now. I'll replace it when I can pick my other one up. Thanks for the help.

I wasn't trying to be a bitch. Some new users really honestly don't know about the search button or dont know how massive the HT.com forum is.

get rid of those CEL then go from there... your car is idiling funny with the CEL and its really hard to trouble shoot the initial problem if that(CEL) is not taken car of....

when i had CEL after my swap it used to idle at 1500-1700(really damn high) and ocassionally my rpm would jump like what your describing....

BTW im tired of reading threads where one person tells another to use the search function... this board is here for a reason, post tech infos and ask Q's ... if we just only used the search function whats the use of having threads in the first place?

my 2 cent

thanks for the advice Doc. that makes sense, especially since those codes are something i need to handle anyway.

94si94cx, i didn' t think you were trying to be a bitch, except for that "nice flame" part, but i was just telling you where i'm coming from. anyway, now that i've browsed around i see that everyone on here seems cool as hell and generally like to stick to the point. glad to be on here.

by the way, nice point on that subject Doc.

thanks again guys.
