Default Idea's needed: rebuilt engine won't start

A friend and I rebuilt my b16b engine due to the rings being worn. Here is a list of parts used:

b16b block
b18b1 crank
b18b1 rods
b18c5 (us spec) 81.5 pistons/rings
OEM bearings/ seals throughout, including headgasket, timing belt, etc.
thermal intake manifold gasket (new)
skunk2 fuel rail (new) with RC 440's
JRSC

B16b head was rebuilt back in november so its still fresh.

We have the engine installed, Cam/Block timing is spot on, Injectors are pulsing and spraying, distributor is working as it should (tested on another vehicle) and leads are in correct order, Plugs are brand new. Compression test was even across the board. No cel lights, checked fuses and they are good, Main relay swapped and no change. The ground wires are installed (transmission, thermostat, and valve cover). I am running hondata s300 with a b18c5 JRSC with 440's 16 omhs map (closes I could find) that came with the smanger software for a base map right now. I swapped in my stock CTR ecu and still won't start.

So if you made it this far, we have spark, we have fuel, we have compression, and we have timing. I'm stumped. We are going to move the distributor around and try to start it tomorrow, while testing the injectors we had an o-ring break and no replacement so had to stop. Also going to check my spark plug wires since we didn't use them when testing the distributor on another vehicle. Might even try roll starting it.

Am I missing something? We've about ran out of idea's. My friend has built several complete engines including his own a week before mine without issues. Any idea's are welcome.

No guesses? Going to pull the 440's for stock ones , pull the missing link and use stock ecu as well. I feel it maybe flooding the car.

Well we put in stock injectors, stock fuel rail, stock ecu. Still no change. Verified coil and icm working. Changed wires. Still not starting. Verified spark order and mechanical timing. Car will back fire some leading me to think timing but we've checked it like 500 times and it's dead on. Ideas, suggestions please!

Dang man, I'd love to suggest something but I don't know either. It seems like you've tried everything I would normally try. I'm guessing the supercharger is on the car? I wish I'd had more experience with boosted applications, the only thing I can think to tell you is to start a thread in the Forced Induction forum.

Yeah the SC, 440's were in the car when we broke it down for a rebuild. Had Hondata s100. Sent the ecu back to Hondata for s300 resocket. But that's irrelevant since the engine started originally with stock ecu, 440's when I first installed the SC before tuning.

Do you smell fuel?
Are the plugs wet?
Put a timing light on there and crank it to see if you're close.

So the engine DID start at one point after the rebuild, or are you saying it ran with the 440's and the SC BEFORE the rebuild? So essentially the only thing that has changed that you can measure thus far, is the basemap?

Yes, only thing that changed from the original engine was crank, rods, bearings, and pistons. Was a stock b16b before. Basically did an OEM stroker kit on it since a b16b block is identical to a b18.

Good news is after I left he fixed the rear hatch key latch since my key wouldn't work on it. And decided to try to start it again. Low and behold it started! But still not sure why it didn't before. He is in the process of swapping back in the 440's and basemap tune to see if it'll continue starting or if it's flooding. If so I'll have to call my tuner to correct the fuel map and all until it's broke in for a complete dyno tune.

Would just leave the stock stuff in but it's running extremely lean (~high 14's low 15's on wideband). Will update as we proceed in case someone else ever has the same problem

Maybe your old setup caused it to flood? then cleared out when you put the stock stuff in? keep us posted gl

Well still don't know what the problem was. We put the skunk2 fuel filter, RC 440's, and Hondata ecu back in and it's running like a champ. Was extremely rough running for the first 20 kms but everytime I start it now it's sounding better and running smoother, a/f readings are good, temps good, everything good. Guess she just didn't want to cooperate lol.
