Default Ideas about timing and clutch

So I got my timing belt replaced back in the winter and the car wasn't running the same as it originally was. But when the summer came, the shuddering went away. Should I just chuck it up to the winter or was the belt off by a tooth or something?

And how do you know when you're spozed to get a new clutch? I wanted to get a racing clutch set if it was bad, but would it be worth it?

If you have a stock engine there is absolutely no point to putting in anything other than a stock clutch, its just going to make it a chore to drive around town. If you really think you might add some mods that actually make some power, no an intake, header and exhaust don't count then maybe look at a stage 1.
