Default IAC gone bad?

k here is my problem. I have a Y7 with Y8im, it has been working fine until yesterday. Well actually the car had been sitting on 4 jackstand for the past 2 weeks while I got my wheels re finished. In that time I cleaned the filter on my CAI and I changed the oil Nothing else. I turned the car on yesterday after I got my wheels back and took it around town to run some errands. after I let it sit and idel for about 10 minutes it started idling weird It would go up and down from 1000 to 2000 rpm I didn't think anything of it and I left thinking It will problem fix it self. Later on the CEL came on, I got home and re-set the the ecu and that took care of it temporarily. I then went out again and it later started doing the same. I checked the fault code and it came back 14, it was something to to with the IAC. My question is, do these things normally go bad? I'm going to clean it as it says on the manual but what are my options? Thanks for your time and have a great day.

I had the exact same problem you do. It can either be your IACV or your Fast Idle Valve...and from what I've been told, for every 1 IACV that goes bad, 10 Fast Idle Valves go bad...but then again when my car was doing that it never threw an engine code. If it is your fast idle valve, take it apart and you'll see what's wrong...the white plastic piece has come unscrewed. I just put a little RTV on the bottom of it and screwed it about halfway back in the threads and my car runs great. I also took off my IACV and cleaned the screens just in case. Now my car runs fine. BTW, the fast idle valve is located under the throttle body.

Thanks for the sugestion, I just cleaned the IACV and Im going to go out now and see what happens. I did run the car untill it warmed up and it seams to be OK now. I did had to adjust the idle after doing so so we will see. thanks again!

I have a similiar problem on my b16. When I first start the car, it idles normally, but once its warmed up, it idles 1800-2000rpm. Could this be the fast idle valve?

It seems that cleaning out the IACV did the trick I drove it extensively yesterday and no CEL and not weard idel.
