IAB not hooked up. HELP!!!!
Hey guys
My IAB is not hooked up on my B18c1 because i dont have the vacuum tank/solenoid assembly. Do i have to use the IAB? I'm pretty sure that the secondary runners are open without it so i should get better air flow right? The only thing i dont know is if im losing anything on the low end of my RPM range with the runners being open. i have the GSR wireing harness hooked up so the solenoid connector is still there. Also i need to know if my ECU is obd tier 1 or tier 2. I am using a P72 but dont knowhow to tell what generation it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, u do not need your IAB's hooked up to have the car run. With no IAB's you are losing about 10-15 hp low-midrange power, but towards the vtec range, the power is the same if you had the IAB's hooked up.
With your ecu. Check to see if the number says xxx-p72-a01. The "a01" means it is obd1.

Re: IAB not hooked up. HELP!!!! (hatchi)
It's a 92 si hatch with a B18C1 swap and P72 ECU(GSR). BTW i found out it was an obd1 ecu. Thanks a lot for the info. Next question my check engine light is on. I checked the code and its a code 1 which is my o2 sensor. if its hooked up why would if be flashing that cone on a Tier 1 ECU????? AAAAAHHH! the confusion.

It could just be a loose connection or an intermittent failure. I pulled this up from my helms, try doing the road test.
*Reset ECU (unplug negative cable from batter for 10min, then plug it back in)
*Start engine and rev to 3000rpm in Neutral until the radiator fan comes on.
*Let engine idle for 1 min.
*Then do road test (in 4th gear, start at 1600rpm, then accelerate using wide open throttle for at least 5 sec, then decelerate for at least 5 sec with the throttle completely closed.
*Does the CEL come on?
*NO=intermittent failure, check connections at shock tower.
*YES = let me know and i'll tell you what to do next.
