Default tip on buying an exhaust

AS of right now i have a weld on muffler with 2 1/2" pipe. I found out that I cant pass emissions in my state with that exhaust. I was looking in to buying a Magnaflow or a OBX exhaust can anyone tell me how they sound or maybe recomend something diffrent. Thanx

What year is the car, and why can't you pass emissions? Did they say it was too loud?

Possible took out his cat converter.... That is the only way I could think of not being able to pass.

I've seen plenty of cars pass CT emissions without cats. I worked at a shop that did emissions testing. As long as the engine is in good shape, it will be HARD to fail. One of my co-workers had an SR20DE-T Sentra with a straight 3" exhaust (no cats, resonators, nothing) and he passed by a pretty good margin.

OBX= IMO, you'll be happier with a better quality system. Ive had a few friends who have had several OBX exhaust systems...never had any luck. poor quality and they rusted fairly quickly. as for sound, it wasn't awful, but there's def nicer stuff out there.

i guess it depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. quiet or loud? IMO loud exhausts are obnoxious and they draw too much attention. I like a quieter system like the Apex WS, RSR exmag, ITR, and of course my Mugen TL. all sound relatively stock at low rpms, and sound great in VTEC! each to their own i guess...but if you want to hear a few sound clips, go to www. team-integra.net

you don't need to register to view the "articles" section of the site. exhaust sound clips in under the "performance" area of the "articles" section. scroll down until you find the "exhaust purchasing guide" and there you will find the sound clips.

good luck and let us know what you decide on

peace

get a megan racing exhaust, a few of my friends have them and i can say that they are really nice, the welds are awesome, its full stainless and the sound is pretty good. Only drawback is the muffler size which is a little large IMO, but if you want a cheap good exhaust megan racing ones are reallygood.
