i need a new engine
hey guys, i really need a new engine, i just got a 99 civic hx, and cant stand how slow it is, it has about 180k miles on it and makes horrible noises, anyway i really want a b18c1 gsr motor, but only have about 200 bucks, i was just wondering how you guys got your motors, if u paid cash up front or is there some way i can finance one? i have a steady job makin $11 an hour so i would sure to be able to afford payments, if you guys know any good sites or any suggestions i would apprecitate it, thanks

$200 Thats my 2 front tires + subways lunch.
You need to start saving to at least 2k, or maybe 3k depending on what year motor you want (assuming gsr), plus, any additional parts and labor, unless youre installing it yourself.

Haha yeh I'd like to see a b16 swapped for 1500 bucks, I think you are on some sort of drug. Or the engine is **** and the job sucked.

Start reading and begin with the top sticky article. Anything faster than a stock d series and you will need to spend money. Remember you bought a honda not a ford mustang. So it takes money and lots of it. Just weigh your options and read and learn to save yourself some money and hassle.

Here's a site you may be interested in. I've never bought a motor at all including this site but it may help. http://www.jspecautosports.com..._id=6

psh, $200 paid for 1 of my tires.
You could probably look aroun for a d16z6/y8 swap. You can probably find one for 300-700 complete. Then from there you could build the motor for an NA all motor setup, or go turbo.
Or you could save up the couple grand like the other guys said buy a B series.
Take some time and think about what you want your car to do. Are you looking for something fairly quick and fairly cheap, or are you going to want a HP monster?
edit: hx's have the d15 in them, right? If so you might consider doing the mini-me swap. Which I think is a d15 bottom end with a d16 vtec head.

Well, how fast do you want to go? How much money do you really want to put into the car? You want to go turbo or NA?

d16y7 is not a VTEC-E.
d16y7 is 106 hp SOHC found in CX, DX, and LX.
What your car should have is a d16y5 (115 hp).
You could do a complete d16y8 (127 hp) for around 500, get the head rebuilt for another $250, and a used turbo kit for 500-1000. It would be cheaper than any B swap and pushing more hp/fpt, too.
