will a d16y7 work in a 98 ex d16y8 i blew my motor and i can get a d16y7 for next to nothing

like 500 but yes a y7 will work but it will be downgrading and will be soo slow, less powerful engine in a heavier car

y not just spend a hundred and get a y8 block. what exactly blew? is the head messed up too?

Yes, the motor will fit but you will probably need the Y7 exhaust set up if you're not re-using your Y8 header/Exhaust.

(Y7 has the header with the built in CAT--Y8 has a normal CAT-BACK)

Yeah... it'll work but you'll be downgrading your car. You'll have an LX with an EX bagde. NO V-TEC! And it'll be in a heavier car. You'll be going pretty slow...
