I Need Help..
Ok.
i'm currently looking to swap a motor into my civic. it's a 97 civic ex. Dzy16 (vtec) i've done everything i can to it, witout forced induction. I'm looking to swap a nice motor in, and someone told me i should do a "F20" this is odd because i've never heard of this before. i've been told it's Mugen's engine or Spoons engine or something. They say they can get it but it's expensive.
am i being ripped off and told storys?
one more question
if i took a b18 non vtec block, i can put a vtec head on and get the best of both worlds, will this cause any major problems down the road?

If I am not mistaken the F20 is the RWD S2000 motor. There is also a F22 and F23 which came in Accords and Preludes at some point int time. I couldnt tell you which came in what car in what year though

I haven't seen an F20 in a civic before. You can put a VTEC head on a non-vtec b18 block, lots of people do this with no problem, search for ls/vtec. Read up a while here before you get into the swapping, will definitely help you avoid getting ripped off.

Re: I Need Help.. (IwantAferrari)
The F20 motor comes out of a S2000. The F20 has a DOHC motor that makes 240hp. The F22A is a motor found in 90-97 Accords and 92-96 Preludes. This motor is a 2.2 SOHC that makes 125-145hp. The F23A1 is a motor found in 96+ CL's and 98+ Accords. This engine is a SOHC VTEC motor that puts out 150hp. Unless you have a ton of funds then count out the S2000 motor. Those other F-series motors are pretty much not worth it, because you have "performed all the mods without forced induction" so you won't make anymore power with those engines, they aren't the most popular engines either, so parts would require some searching. You might be getting ripped off and you are being lied to, Spoon has crate motors which are pretty much balanced and blueprinted. They make a little bit more power, but cost a pretty penny. As for the LS/VTEC (B18 block/ VTEC head), you can do it pretty good now, there is a ton of people on this forum who have this setup and make monster power, I am not sure of all the parts needed, but it has to be a B-series VTEC head in order to work with the block. I have a friend who has a GSR motor in his 97 EX and he absolutely loves it. Just search around for the LS/VTEC info, it's on this site somewhere. Hope this helps you out
