I have some questions about adjusting AEM cam gear on d16z6!
Hi, everyone!
I just got new AEM cam gear for my d16z6 and have some questions about adjusting it properly.
I just talked to local mechanic, who could give me some advice of installing and adjusting it and he said it's not worth it and it's even dangerous to my engine. He said if I want to install it I have to be very careful with adjustment, because my valves can hit pistons!? Is it true? What can go wrong?
I know I can only do it properly on dyno, but I don't want to screw up anything..
So I have stock d16z6 with ZEX 59300 cam and want to install AEM 5bolt cam gear.
Will be waiting for advices. Thanks!

yes you do have to be careful how you adjust it if you adjust it too much your valves will hit the piston. think of it as jumping a tooth of timing on your timing belt but with the cam gear your only jumping an 1/8th of a tooth

you really should adjust it on a dyno otherwise your just shooting a guess that it will be better than stock
